The Moran Rod Company

The Legacy Continues...
Before he left us,Tom Moran took great care in making plans to ensure the continued existence of The Moran Rod Company and from my conversations with him during his last months, I know that Tom took considerable solace from the results. Tom was very pleased to leave his company name and his legacy to Calum Gladstone, his friend and fellow rod maker at Hardy Bros. In the (nearly) four years that Tom and Calum worked together they developed a remarkably close relationship both professionally and personally and they had the highest respect for each other, as rod makers and individuals.
Because of his respect and affection for Tom it is Very Important to Calum that he fulfils Tom's wishes and honours his legacy, and so we are both very happy to be able to announce the re-launch The Moran Rod Company.
Working in Tom's old workshop, Calum is now making "T.Moran" rods, using Tom's garrison based tapers, finished to the original style and standards using Tom's own equipment and tools (Tom’s hat and coats are still hanging up behind the door.).Calum also has plans to introduce his own rods to The Moran Rod Company range in the future, whilst still continuing to work at Hardy Bros. in Alnwick. Supply is very limited and only completed rods will be offered for sale, exclusively through www.alternativetackle.com and rods will not be made to order.

Pricing: T.Moran 2 piece rods cost £2070 and 3 piece rods are £2300.
Specification:
Rods are finished with either flamed blanks and eucalyptus reel seat inserts or blonde blanks and fiddleback maple inserts. All rods come with blued fittings, extra tips and leather rod tubes as standard.

LATEST:
The first two Moran Company Rods
completed after Tom sadly left us have now been sold.
One went to a new home in New Zealand South Island and the other to South Africa (Tom would have been pleased!). Details of these rods can be found below in the “latest”
Calum has started to build a Moran Rod Company fibreglass rod (on order for a customer). This rod is being built on an Ijuin Yomogi blank and I’m very excited to see the end result. Full details will be published here, on Facebook and in the newsletter as soon as they become available. You can expect to see more fibreglass rods from The Moran Rod Company in the coming months and I hope to have a demo. rod available in the near future.
