Graeme Robertson Net Maker

I was searching for a long time for someone in the UK who produced high quality handmade wooden landing nets. Finally someone found me....
In the Spring of 2014 Graeme Robertson approached me to see if I would consider adding his nets to the www.alternativetackle.com product range and as soon as I say excellence of his workmanship, I had no option but to say yes.
Graeme has this to say about himself: " I am an Electrical Engineer by profession, with a wife, two small boys, and with an obsession dating back to childhood for tinkering and finding ways to make things either better (in my opinion) than the original, or just nicer." Like many of the craftsman supported on this site Graeme is continuously searching for perfection in his work, even though most of us would say he has already achieved his aim.
Each of Graeme's nets is unique and feature carefully selected hardwoods, steam bent laminated hoops, handmade brass tethers, on the hoop (for net release attachment) and handle (to accept a lanyard). The net bags are hand stitched 4mm. polyester hexmesh. Nets are protected by nine individual layers of polymerised gunstock oil for a lifetime's service. Measuring dots on the net handle in real mother of pearl can also added. Each net comes with a signed note from Graeme detailing its construction and including advice on care.
Graeme's first two nets for www.alternativetackle.com have now arrived and you can see full details below. These are Graeme's "standard" size nets but we hope to be able to offer other sizes in the future. Meanwhile Please CONTACT ME if you'd like to know more.
LATEST:
Graeme is back in the workshop and has started some more nets for me which should be available sometime in May. I’ll update this page with progress reports as I get them…
